Itinerary

Day 1 : We start the “Bike Tour” in Madrid. Pick-up from Madrid Airport (Barajas) and transfer to the hotel, 2 transfers will be made, one in the morning and one in the afternoon ( schedule will be set depending on arrivals ) Around 18:00h welcome meeting with Tour Leader. City Information will be provided to all those who arrive in the morning and want to visit Madrid. welcome meeting with the presence of the Tour Leader, delivery of the electric bikes for the 5 days.
Accommodation: Hotel Juanito c/flortes 5, 28025 Madrid (Meals and dinners not included , except lunch on day 4 in Segovia which will be provided R 50´s)

Day 2 : On this first day of the route we will cycle from Madrid to Aranjuez on varied trails. Right after breakfast we will leave in the direction of “Madrid Rio” to follow the banks of the Manzanares river through Manzanares and Jarama Regional Parks. Once we arrive at Titulcia Km 70 we only have an easy stretch to Aranjuez, a light snack will be provided during this stretch. Lunch, once we arrive in Aranjuez (Approx. 30o/person) Aranjuez is a World Heritage city, to highlight the Royal Site jewel of Herrerian Architecture, we will return to Madrid by the commuter train.
Our “Bike Tour” today has approx.. 80km (280 m. ascent 400 m. descent)
Difficulty:

Day 3 : This day we will visit the surroundings of Madrid, we will tour around Madrid`s cycling Ring that develops entirely by bike lanes enabled to make this tour, and that surrounds the city of Madrid. After breakfast we will leave with the bikes to link with the ring, after a few kilometers and at the height of the Puerta de Toledo we will deviate to know the Madrid of the Austrias and the Plaza Mayor where we will taste the typical tapas of the area (Approx. 20€ / person) before linking again with the ring and return to the hotel .
Our “Bike Tour” today has approx. 60 km (accumulated elevation 300 m.)
Difficulty:

Day 4 : This day we will go to Segovia (1,000 m. altitude). After breakfast we will leave by bike to take the train that will take us to Cercedilla (1,200 mtr) in Guadarrama National Park starting point of today’s route, we will enter, by trails and an old unpaved road, right into the Sierra going up to the Port of the Fuenfría (1,800 mtr) from here will be all descent to Segovia. Beautiful route discovering the pine forests of Valsain and with a jackpot when arriving in Segovia. Here we will enjoy the Segovian delicacy, the suckling pig (Meal included in the price) We will also have some time after the meal to visit, without getting off the bike, some monuments such as the Aqueduct and the Alcazar. We will return by train to Cercedilla and from there, also by train, to Madrid
Our “Bike Tour” today has approx. 36 km (600 m. ascent, 800mtr descent)
Difficulty:

Day 5 : On this fifth day we will visit El Escorial. Once breakfast is over we will leave the Hotel by bike to head to the train station that will take us to the town of El Escorial. The Royal Monastery was considered, from the end of the sixteenth century, the eighth wonder of the world, both for its size and functional complexity and for its enormous symbolic value. We will pay a visit to its outdoors by bike to admire this wonder. Afterwards we will leave through fields and forests towards Madrid, we will pass through the Valmayor reservoir arriving at the Casa de Campo by trails, forests and parks. Meal at Casa Mingo (30 € meal not included)
Our “Bike Tour” today has approx. 60 km (380 mtr ascenso, 700 mtr descenso)

Day 6 : Our last day of the tour will be by the Montes de El Pardo, a wooded area located north of Madrid and considered the most important Mediterranean forest of the Community of Madrid, this area gathers a rich artistic historical heritage resulting from its close relationship with the Spanish monarchy. Meal in one of the many country side restaurants of the area (Approx. 30o not included)

Difficulty:

Day 7 : The trip ends in Madrid after breakfast, there are no activities planned for today. Depending on the return aircraft schedules we will arrange two transfers to the Airport, 2 depending on departure times.

Trip information

INSURANCE: It is an indispensable condition to book with us, to have the right travel insurance. It is your responsibility to know the scope of the policy contracted by you that must cover all activities including optional activities. Make sure your policy covers the medical emergency for helicopter evacuation and repatriation to your home country.

ADDITIONAL INFO: The organization does not provide with a protective helmet, do not forget to bring it as it is mandatory, however you can rent one for 5 days for 20 euros / week. We recommend bringing a backpack – 15/20 ltr. – camel back type, where you can take with you a raincoat , sunglasses, gloves, sunscreen, water, etc. If you do not bring specific bicycle shoes we recommend hard sole footwear because it better transmits the energy to the pedals. If you are not used to bicycle saddles, we recommend bringing your “gel seat” with you for additional comfort during the routes. It is convenient to bring your knife/fork for possible use during picnics on routes.

ADDITIONAL OPTIONS: Normally in Spain visits to the different monuments, cost of entrance tickets is in the range of 3 to 10 euros. This cost is not part of the cost of the trip.

ABOUT THE ROUTES: In this “Bike Tour” we will ride about 270 km (an average of 54 km per day) the routes run along trails, dirt roads and bike paths, some crossings are made by paved road. The Tour Leader will indicate the areas with traffic. No vehicle will accompany the group, however any mishap will be solved by the Tour Leader or, in any case the group will be taken care of. Electric bikes require some experience in their use, during the first day of the route, we will get used to them. Once back at the hotel the battery of the bikes must be recharged in each room by to make sure that by the next day is charged at 100% capacity.
